Bitter End Yacht Club BVI

While I buried Tessa in the sand, Dan and Tristan rented a Hobie catamaran and had a great sail.          While they were gone, the staff at Bitter End hauled out a big floating trampoline, with a slide (called a super Playstation) and anchored it in the water in front of Tessa and me.   Could it get any better for the kids?  By the time Tristan got back from sailing, the Super Playstation was filling up with kids.       We met a nice family from Toronto Canada, who had 3 children near our kids ages.  While the kids played in the water, their mom Cari and I had time to talk.  After dinner, we caught up with them while watching Shrek 2 at the outdoor theatre. All the kids were so tired from playing on the Playstation.  Tristan and Tessa had a tough time staying awake for the movie.  Homeschooling tomorrow will be tough!

Bitter End Yacht Club BVI

We love Bitter End Yacht Club.  We have always loved it here.  The grounds are beautiful, and there is so much to do, great beach, boat rentals, and free outdoor movies every night (last night the we watched Finding Nemo). We came here late yesterday afternoon, after leaving the Baths.  This morning I went to a free yoga class held on a floating dock on the water.  That was nice!!!  This afternoon on the beach, a couple, Frank and Vickie, were renewing their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary.  We listened to the ceremony.  At one point, the priest said that he had a special blessing for them  It seems that Frank and Vickie were tight with the Pope, (The POPE!!)  and the Pope sent a special blessing for them, which included a signed picture of the Pope, with the blessing, mounted in a picture frame.  I later heard more about it from some women in the bathroom.  Frank and Vickie were from Los Vegas and came on their own megayacht.  Their guests came on a small cruise ship.  On Prickly Pear, the island next door, Michael McDonald gave the party a private concert.  Afterwards, we were treated to the most amazing fireworks I have ever seen.  Very nice!!!  I can’t even imagine how much all this cost, but it was an event!!!

British Virgin Islands

The last few days we have just spent relaxing.  We spent two days at Cane Garden Bay.  Tristan and Tessa met some kids there and had a great time one evening playing hide and seek.   One little girl, that Tessa was playing with, ending up eating dinner with us.  Her aunt came over and was talking to us.  Her aunt and the little girl’s mom were originally from Chicago and use to spend some time in Kankakee (the area Dan and I grew up in).  Small world.

Today we went to the Baths at Virgin Gorda.

The Baths are these huge granite boulders stacked on top of each other.  The way the boulders are stacked, it creates caves, and crevices, which you walk through as part of the trail.  The water rushes in between the rocks too, making small swimming pools.  The rocks make for great climbing.  The trail ends on a beautiful beach called Devils

Bay, one of my favorites.  Tessa decided it would be fun if we brought a picnic lunch, so I packed some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, pretzels and drinks, and after our climb through the rocks we ate on the beach.  An unexpected surprise was the aggressive chickens on the beach.  As soon as we started our sandwiches, this colorful rooster and a hen, slowly started toward us.  I didn’t think much of it until I looked up and they were within a foot of me.  Tessa scared them off, but about 5 minutes later they were back.   They weren’t afraid of us and were determined to get a bite.  I threw some crust as far into the bushes as I could but they came back.  So much for our relaxing picnic!
